Your data helps answer one question: what’s for dinner?

Effective August 15, 2026

This page is written to be understandable. It describes Salt & Maybe as it works today; if our practices materially change, we will update this page and the effective date.

Salt & Maybe is provided by Calibogue Worldwide Corporation (“Salt & Maybe,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Salt & Maybe mobile application and related services.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address, name, user identifier, and sign-in provider information supplied through Apple or Google.
  • Household content: household and diner names, dietary preferences and restrictions, allergies, recipes, grocery items, meal plans, cooking activity, and ingredients you confirm.
  • Ingredient photos: only a photo you deliberately take or select for ingredient recognition. Salt & Maybe currently processes the selected image for that request and does not save the original photo in your household database.
  • Technical information: authentication, request, error, security, and operational logs needed to run and protect the service. Salt & Maybe does not currently use third-party advertising trackers.

Dietary, allergy, and religious-observance settings can be sensitive. They are used to tailor meal suggestions and are not medical diagnoses.

How we use information

  • Authenticate users and keep household information available across sessions.
  • Recognize user-selected ingredients and generate requested meal suggestions.
  • Apply dietary rules, save recipes and grocery items, and support cooking features.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and improve reliability.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use household photos or content for targeted advertising.

AI processing and service providers

Salt & Maybe sends a selected ingredient photo to OpenAI through a protected server function to identify visible food ingredients. It also sends confirmed ingredient names and the selected diners’ dietary rules to OpenAI to generate meal suggestions. Do not include people, private documents, or unrelated sensitive information in ingredient photos.

OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the API customer explicitly opts in. Salt & Maybe does not opt in. Salt & Maybe requests that response application state not be stored; OpenAI may still retain abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, subject to its policies, legal obligations, and safety review practices.

We also use Supabase for authentication, database storage, and server functions; Expo for app building and delivery; and Apple and Google for sign-in and app distribution. These providers process information for us under their own service terms and security controls.

Sharing

Household content is available to members of that household. We disclose information to service providers only as needed to operate Salt & Maybe, or when required to comply with law, protect safety, prevent fraud or abuse, or complete a corporate transaction subject to appropriate protections.

Retention and deletion

We retain account and household information while your account is active and as needed to operate the service. You can delete your account inside Salt & Maybe under Household → Delete account and data. A household with no remaining members is deleted. If other members remain, shared content stays with the household and ownership is transferred so their shared service is not destroyed.

Deletion removes the Salt & Maybe authentication account and account-linked records, subject to limited backup, security, fraud-prevention, legal, or vendor retention periods.

Security and your choices

We use authentication, encrypted network transport, device-secure session storage, household-level authorization, and server-side API credentials. No system is completely secure. You control which photo is submitted, can edit recognition results, change household content, sign out, and delete your account.

Children

Salt & Maybe is intended for adults managing household meals. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13 or intentionally collect their personal information. Adults may create non-account diner labels and should avoid entering unnecessary information about children.

International use and changes

Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate. Privacy rights vary by location. We will update this policy when our practices materially change and provide additional notice when required.
